Adams is by far the most celebrated of all nature and environmental
photographers. An only child, Adams struggled with school and found
refuge in the piano, which he taught himself at the age of 12. It was a trip
with his family to Yosemite National park in 1916 and the gift of a camera
from his dad, that would change the course of his
life. He marveled at the quality of light that he found, and became
focused on capturing it in his photographs. His first pictures were
published in 1921 and he continued to produce breathtaking photographs for 60
years.
